4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;[b] 6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

8 Love never ends.

4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not [b]puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, [c]thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

8 Love never fails.

The positives of obedience; not the negative,

Matthew 5:7-9

9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.

God cannot give us a happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing.

– C.S. Lewis

Peace!!  Much better than pleasure!!

Two Paths,…….

The path of peace (of the soul, body, mind, emotions, will)

or the path of torment, tribulation, distress, & trouble.

There is only One who offers peace to our souls.

Certainty!!!  And it is the most valuable and essential for us!!

We are looking for pleasure, happiness, success, wealth, financial security, fame, but nothing compares to peace, real peace of the soul, the heart, the mind.  It is hell not to have peace!!  Literally!!!

The most valuable commodity not available from the world, and its pleasures and offers.

(Peace is to not be:  broken, asunder, divided, torn, turbulent, tormented, and fearfully prideful).

But rather is:  Rest, tranquille, harmony, safety, security, well being.

Peace: Obedience, purity,

Luke 16:19-30

19 “Now there was a rich man, and he habitually dressed in purple and fine linen, enjoying himself in splendor every day. 20 And a poor man named Lazarus was laid at his gate, covered with sores, 21 and longing to be fed from the scraps which fell from the rich man’s table; not only that, the dogs also were coming and licking his sores. 22 Now it happened that the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to [a]Abraham’s arms; and the rich man also died and was buried. 23 And in Hades he raised his eyes, being in torment, and *saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his [b]arms. 24 And he cried out and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me and send Lazarus, so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.’ 25 But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that during your life you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus bad things; but now he is being comforted here, and you are in agony. 26 And [c]besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set, so that those who want to go over from here to you will not be able, nor will any people cross over from there to us.’ 27 And he said, ‘Then I request of you, father, that you send him to my father’s house— 28 for I have five brothers—in order that he may warn them, so that they will not come to this place of torment as well.’ 29 But Abraham *said, ‘They have [d]Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.’ 30 But he said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent!’

It thou seek rest in this life, how wilt thou then attain to the everlasting rest? Dispose not thyself for much rest, but for great patience. Seek true peace – not in earth, but in heaven; not in men, nor in any other creature, but in God alone.

– Thomas a Kempis

First keep peace with yourself, then you can also bring peace to others.

– Thomas a Kempis

Peace does not dwell in outward things, but within the soul; we may preserve it in the midst of the bitterest pain, if our will remains firm and submissive. Peace in this life springs from acquiescence to, not in an exemption from, suffering.

– Francois Fenelon

Resign every forbidden joy; restrain every wish that is not referred to God’s will; banish all eager desires, all anxiety; desire only the will of God; seek him alone and supremely, and you will find peace.

– Francois Fenelon

Hebrews 12:11

For the moment, all discipline seems not to be pleasant, but painful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness.

James 3:16-18

16 For where jealousy and [a]selfish ambition exist, [b]there is disorder and every evil thing. 17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peace-loving, gentle, [c]reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, [d]impartial, free of hypocrisy. 18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace [e]by those who make peace.

1 Peter 1:2

according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with His blood: May grace and peace be multiplied to you.

1 Peter 3:10-12

10 For,

“The one who desires life, to love and see good days,

Must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit.

11 He must turn away from evil and do good;

He must seek peace and pursue it.

12 For the eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous,

And His ears attend to their prayer,

But the face of the Lord is against evildoers.”

2 Peter 1:2

Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,

2 Peter 3:14

Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found spotless and blameless by Him, at peace,

Jude 1:2

May mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.

In thus following the spirit they invariably shall “set their minds on the things of the spirit.” And the result shall be “life and peace.”

It now seemed that the deepest thirst within him was not adapted to the deepest nature of the world.
